Cezary Tomczyk, the Polish Deputy Minister of Defense, stated that the United States has expressed interest in a permanent military base in Poland, after the Polish government adopted the necessary measures in this regard. This ordinance, approved on Tuesday, represents an invitation for the Americans, and Tomczyk emphasized that the base would be funded by both countries.
Currently, approximately 10,000 American soldiers are stationed in Poland on a rotational basis, but the Polish government hopes to transform this presence into a permanent one. Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the final decision will belong to the USA. Additionally, Polish officials believe that Poland has a good chance of benefiting from an increase in the permanent presence of American troops, in the context of the reorganization of the US military presence in Europe. Tomczyk mentioned that the constructive dialogue between Poland and the USA continues, and the next step is an official offer from Poland.
