Poland estimates that hosting a permanent U.S. military base on its territory will cost more than 15 billion zlotys, equivalent to approximately €3.8 billion. The project would allow around 5,000 U.S. troops and approximately 20,000 other people, including family members, to be stationed there.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz told the economic news portal WNP.pl that the investment’s value will depend on the level of U.S. involvement. The official said Warsaw is prepared to accelerate the project, has several sites available, and has already allocated funds for infrastructure.

The four sites under consideration are Wrocław, Poznan, Bydgoszcz, and Szczecin, all located west of the Vistula River. The minister said the base would involve building a genuine community, with housing, schools, and services.

According to the timeline presented, the Pentagon will receive the technical reports in November, while the White House is expected to make the final decision in December 2026. The negotiations gained momentum on June 3, after Kosiniak-Kamysz sent a proposal to U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, following President Donald Trump’s promise to send another 5,000 troops to Poland.

The project, known as “Fort Trump,” was initially proposed in 2018 by former Polish President Andrzej Duda. At present, approximately 7,000 U.S. troops are deployed on a rotational basis in Poland. The Polish minister also considers the transfer of Patriot PAC-3 MSE missile production to Europe essential.
