Poland is discussing with Washington about the creation of permanent American bases.

Poland, located at the border with Ukraine and Russia, is negotiating with the United States to establish permanent American bases on its territory, said Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Zalewski.

Currently, approximately 10,000 American soldiers are stationed in Poland, largely on a rotational basis. Last week, the U.S. began a review of its military presence in Europe, which could lead to a reduction of American forces on the continent. However, Poland, which allocates 5% of its GDP for defense, is modernizing its armed forces and collaborating with Washington to strengthen the American military presence.

Zalewski mentioned that the discussions aim to gradually transform existing bases into permanent ones, and proposals are already in the process of being exchanged. The United States has criticized European countries that have not allowed American forces access to NATO bases, emphasizing the importance of honoring defense commitments.
