Poland is considering the acquisition of approximately 250 Stryker armored vehicles, offered by the United States for the symbolic sum of 1 dollar, as part of the largest expansion of the Polish army in recent decades. This offer comes against the backdrop of the reorganization of the American military presence in Europe, which frees up Stryker vehicles for transfer to allies. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that Washington has proposed the direct transfer of the vehicles to Poland under the American Excess Defense Articles (EDA) program.
Stryker vehicles, valued for their mobility and modular design, have been used by the American army in conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan. They have also been provided to Ukrainian forces following the Russian invasion in 2022. However, Polish military analysts warn that the introduction of Strykers could affect the development of the local defense industry. Despite these controversies, Poland continues to strengthen and expand its armed forces, considering the increased demand for equipment due to security risks posed by Russia.
