The Polish Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, stated that the United States will not reduce its military presence in Poland, following discussions with American officials. Currently, approximately 10,000 American soldiers are in Poland, and Warsaw is significantly investing in their support. This assurance came after the U.S. announced a reduction of troops in Romania from 2,000 to 1,000 soldiers, which raised concerns among allies. Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Poland offers unique conditions for American military presence compared to other European countries.
Although Washington stated that the reduction of troops in Romania does not represent a withdrawal from Europe, the measure has generated criticism and unease in the U.S., including from some Republican congressmen.
