Norway, one of the largest energy suppliers in Europe, is facing an alarming situation, having fuel reserves that would last only 20 days.
In this context, the government led by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has considered implementing remote work to reduce fuel demand, in light of the turmoil in the Middle East affecting global supply.
Although Norway exports record amounts of oil and gas, with revenues of 4.9 billion euros from oil and 5.9 billion euros from gas in March, domestic reserves are far below those of neighboring countries Sweden and Finland, which have stocks for about 90 days. This discrepancy has generated internal criticism, highlighting the irony that a country fueling Europe is facing a domestic supply deficit.
