Norway announces that it will continue to develop oil and gas resources in the Barents Sea, despite the European Union's support for a moratorium on hydrocarbon supplies from the Arctic region, said Energy Minister Terje Aasland in an interview with Reuters.

Aasland stated that Norway aims to maintain oil and gas production until 2035, and the Barents Sea will play an essential role. Although the EU supports banning new drilling in the Arctic for environmental reasons, Norway believes that developing these resources is a "sovereign right." Terje Aasland emphasized that Arctic oil could be sold on global markets, and gas could be exported in the form of liquefied natural gas.

Additionally, he stated that the idea of Norway being Europe's "green battery" is outdated, as the country cannot single-handedly balance the European energy market.
