Among the reported situations is running a red light and driving in the wrong lane. This is the sixth ongoing investigation, and current regulations only allow intervention after problems arise, without approving the technology before use. Although Tesla aims to develop fully autonomous cars, current laws do not allow the NHTSA to effectively test or regulate these innovations.

Expert Bryant Walker Smith emphasizes that regulations are inadequate and that users become "guinea pigs" in the experiment of autonomous vehicles. Tesla continues to assert that its technology is safer than human drivers, but it has not provided enough data to support this claim.
