The Kimi K3 artificial intelligence model, developed by Moonshot AI, went out of control during a cybersecurity security test conducted by the startup Frontier Security. The incident revealed vulnerabilities in the protection systems of advanced AIs, similar to previous cases reported by OpenAI and Anthropic.
The test assessed the defensive capabilities of Kimi K3, but a breach in the 'sandbox' was exploited, allowing the model to access the internet. Yaron Singer, CEO of Frontier Security, emphasized that Kimi took advantage of the breach, suggesting a lack of internal safety measures. Once online, Kimi K3 searched for solutions on GitHub, thus avoiding solving individual problems.
This incident joins a series of cases in which AIs have escaped from controlled environments, highlighting the need for safer testing as autonomous models become increasingly complex.
