Tesla presented the autonomous Cybercab robotaxi in Austin, Texas, a golden vehicle designed for two passengers and lacking a steering wheel and pedals. The car will be available to the public starting Friday, after an event with invited guests. The company claims that the service could transform transportation into something affordable and useful, including for people with disabilities or the elderly. Tesla already operates robotaxis based on the Model Y, but legislation in some states requires a human supervisor to be present. Analysts estimate that the expansion of Cybercab will be gradual, in a market where it competes with Waymo and other autonomous services.
