The French government has decided not to authorize Tesla's FSD (Full Self-Driving) system due to major safety issues identified by authorities. The Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot, explained that although the system offers technological advancements, the safety measures are not sufficient to justify its authorization in its current form.
Among the reported issues is the fact that the system allows exceeding the maximum permitted speed, and the vehicle can adjust its speed to adapt to surrounding traffic, even in illegal conditions. Additionally, the FSD module does not guarantee optimal driver attention in complex situations, such as intersections. Although the refusal of authorization is temporary, Tabarot emphasized that discussions with Tesla and other European states continue to properly assess these technologies and ensure a safe implementation framework.
