New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced Tuesday the online publication of tens of thousands of documents concerning what the municipality knew about toxic air in the Ground Zero area after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Asked about officials who may have concealed information, the mayor said they included numerous people whom New Yorkers had trusted. The attacks killed 2,977 people, while more than 9,400 people later died from conditions associated with exposure.
