The Kremlin and Ukraine have announced that the next round of negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Geneva, following two previous rounds in Abu Dhabi that did not yield progress. The discussions are stalled on the issue of territorial concessions.
The Kremlin initially announced, for next week, a new round of peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, but the location was not yet established. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the resumption of negotiations, with Vladimir Medinski leading the Russian delegation. Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov emphasized that the goal remains a stable peace.
On the ground, Russian bombings continue, affecting the Ukrainian energy system and causing loss of life. Ukrainian President Zelensky is attending the Munich Security Conference, where he will meet with Western leaders, while Russia continues to occupy 20% of Ukraine's territory. Kyiv has stated that any agreement must be validated by a popular vote, once security conditions are met.
