Mojtaba Khamenei, the new supreme leader of Iran, has appointed General Mohsen Rezai, former commander of the Revolutionary Guard, as military advisor.
The appointment was announced by the Iranian press. Khamenei has not appeared in public since the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which occurred following the American-Israeli attacks on February 28.
General Rezai, at the age of 71, has played an important role in leading the elite military forces of the Islamic regime in Iran. It is unclear whether his predecessor, Rahim Safavi, still holds responsibilities in this position.
Mojtaba Khamenei emphasized that officials appointed by his father must continue to fulfill their duties. It was also mentioned that Mojtaba was injured at the beginning of the war, but the Iranian foreign minister assured that there are no issues with the new leader.
American President Donald Trump expressed uncertainties regarding Mojtaba's health, suggesting that if he is alive, he should step down.
