In an interview with Glenn Beck, Donald Trump stated that he does not believe that Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei is dead, but that he has suffered severe injuries in the attacks that caused the death of his father, Ali Khamenei. Trump mentioned that the young leader was seriously injured on the left side of his body, including his arm and leg, but the behavior of the Iranian negotiators suggests that he would be alive.

Since his appointment as ayatollah on March 8, Khamenei has not appeared in public, and his absence from his father's funeral has sparked speculation. Previous reports from the American press, based on anonymous sources, indicate that Khamenei has undergone multiple surgeries and has speech difficulties due to his injuries. The American Secretary of Defense confirmed that he would have been disfigured, but Iranian officials have not provided any confirmation of this information.
