In June, military aid for Ukraine reached 7.2 billion euros, the highest level since the cessation of American funding, according to the German research institute Kiel.

This significant increase was generated by a new loan of 90 billion euros approved by the European Union for the period 2026-2027, aimed at supporting Ukraine's war effort. Additionally, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands have contributed substantial amounts to support the Ukrainian army.

However, in the long term, a stagnation of aid is expected, with funding levels below those prior to the interruption of American support.

Despite the absence of direct contributions from the USA, American weapons remain essential for Ukraine, and Europe is increasingly dependent on them. Experts emphasize the need for Europe to develop viable alternatives to reduce dependence on American defense systems.
