Logan Paul, a well-known YouTuber and WWE fighter, has set a new record in the field of collectibles by selling the card 'Pikachu Illustrator' for the impressive sum of $16.492 million, including fees from the Goldin auction house. Purchased in 2021 for $5.3 million, this rare card is one of approximately 40 existing copies in the world and was the only one to receive a grade of 10 from PSA, indicating a perfect condition. The decision to sell was influenced by expert Ken Goldin, who convinced Paul that the Pokémon market is in full expansion.
After the sale, Paul stated that the result was 'absolutely incredible,' and a representative from Guinness World Records confirmed that it is the most expensive collectible trading card ever sold at auction. The new owner, AJ Scaramucci, son of the former White House communications director, mentioned that the purchase is just the beginning of a global 'treasure hunt,' with plans to buy valuable historical items. Paul acknowledged that, although he considers himself a collector, he needs liquidity to cover the costs of his wedding to model Nina Agdal, scheduled for 2025.
