Nicusor Dan attended the Arctic Summit in Rovaniemi and said that Europe’s security is a shared concern

President of Romania Nicusor Dan attended a working dinner hosted by Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo on Sunday, as part of the Arctic Summit in Rovaniemi. The meeting addresses European security and developments in the Arctic region, as strategic links between the Arctic, the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea become increasingly important.

Nicusor Dan thanked the Finnish prime minister for the invitation and stressed that Europe’s security is a shared concern. The president said that events occurring in one part of the continent can have direct consequences for all European states.

The summit was organized at the initiative of Petteri Orpo and brings together European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The meeting is also attended by European Council President António Costa and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas.

On Monday, the agenda includes a visit to the Lapland Air Wing military base, a session dedicated to security and the future of the Arctic, discussions on the role of the European Union in the region and a joint press conference.
