During a ceremony at Windsor Castle, writer Kazuo Ishiguro recounted a conversation with King Charles III, in which the sovereign addressed the threat that artificial intelligence (AI) poses to creative industries. Ishiguro, a Nobel Prize laureate in literature, emphasized that the king mentioned the importance of continuing the fight against these threats.
Additionally, Ishiguro highlighted concerns regarding the use of creative works without permission for training AI, considering that copyright is often violated. Although he does not oppose the use of works in AI training, he emphasizes the need for a legal framework to protect intellectual property. Ishiguro expressed optimism about the potential benefits of AI but stressed that its use must be controlled. At the ceremony, he received the Order of Companions of Honour for his literary contributions, describing the experience as overwhelming.
