This week, Israeli forces attacked Beaufort Castle, a 900-year-old historical site in southern Lebanon, causing 31 deaths and 40 injuries, in the bloodiest day since the extension of the ceasefire. UNESCO describes this castle as one of the best-preserved examples of medieval castles in the region.
In addition to the attacks on Beaufort Castle, Israel also carried out a strike near the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting Ali al-Husseini, the leader of a rocket division associated with Hezbollah. Furthermore, the attacks continued to hit towns and villages in southern Lebanon, including a strike that killed six people, among them two children. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the army is intensifying operations to protect communities north of the border with Lebanon, reinforcing a self-declared security zone.
