Péter Szijjártó stated that Hungary would suffer if access to Russian energy were to be cut off, reaffirming that his country will not yield to external pressures regarding energy supply. During a visit to Moscow, Szijjártó participated in the Russian Energy Week forum, highlighting the divergences between Budapest and most NATO countries regarding relations with Russia. Hungary has continued to depend on Russian energy after the invasion of Ukraine, attracting criticism from EU and NATO allies. Furthermore, he emphasized that deliveries from Russia have been consistent and that Hungary has signed a 15-year agreement for the purchase of Russian gas. Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned that giving up Russian energy would be devastating for the country's economy.
