President Nicușor Dan announced on Thursday that he would designate, in the coming days, a candidate for the position of prime minister, amid expectations regarding the formation of a new Government. The statement was made after the meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
Asked when he would make the nomination, the head of state said that the decision would be made soon, emphasizing that “society is waiting for us to have a Government.” Nicușor Dan specified that, during the preceding period, there had been discussions regarding the designation of the prime minister and the governing program, but the process had not advanced significantly.
The president explained that one of the reasons was that many parliamentarians had been on vacation.
“In the coming days. Obviously, society is waiting for us to have a Government. There have been discussions throughout this period. I did not act very much because many parliamentarians were on vacation and, as you know, a physical vote is required, but it is time to settle the program,” said Nicușor Dan when asked when he would designate the prime minister.
Subsequently, the designated prime minister will have to obtain a vote of confidence from Parliament for the government team.
