A vessel carrying approximately 300 people sank between Thailand and Malaysia, causing the disappearance of hundreds of people. So far, Malaysian maritime authorities have recovered 10 survivors, including three men from Myanmar, two Rohingya men, and one man from Bangladesh, as well as the body of a Rohingya woman. The sinking occurred nearly three days after the vessel departed from Buthidaung, Myanmar. The survivors were transferred to smaller boats to avoid detection by authorities. Search operations continue, and the status of two other boats remains unknown. Members of the Rohingya community often flee Myanmar due to abuses and lack of citizenship.
