Indonesia has reported over 200 deaths, with North Sumatra being the most affected province, recording 116 deaths. In Thailand, 145 people have died, mostly in Songkhla province, where the waters rose up to three meters. The Thai government has mobilized refrigerated trucks to manage the large number of corpses, and the Prime Minister has apologized for the handling of the situation. In Malaysia, two people have died in Perlis state. Public discontent is rising in Thailand, and two local officials have been suspended. In Sri Lanka, the floods have caused 123 deaths. Scientists warn that global warming exacerbates extreme weather phenomena.
