On Friday, the Czech Republic, including the capital Prague, experienced a major power blackout, described by Prime Minister Petr Fiala as an "exceptional and difficult situation". Authorities are working intensively to restore power supplies after train lines in five districts were shut down. A spokeswoman for network operator CEPS confirmed that a downed power line was the cause of the outage, affecting much of the country.
