A failure in the electricity distribution network affected several resorts on the southern Romanian coast, leaving tens of thousands of tourists without power.
The incident was caused by the overloading of the network, generated by the intense use of air conditioning units and refrigeration equipment, under conditions of high temperatures.
Problems began on Saturday in the resorts of Saturn, Venus, and Cap Aurora, partially extending to Neptun as well. Approximately 100 businesses, including hotels and restaurants, were affected, leading to a halt in activities at these establishments.
Representatives of the Mangalia City Hall explained that the electricity network is under great pressure during the summer season, and local authorities are monitoring the situation. The Constanța County Prefecture announced that intervention teams are working to fix the faults and restore electricity supply, in order to minimize the impact on tourists and businesses.
