Drone fragments were found Thursday morning on the beach in Corbu by tourists walking along the seashore. The Ministry of National Defence announced, however, that pieces of the aircraft had been reported in the Capu Midia area as early as Wednesday evening, but the authorities postponed the intervention because of the darkness.
The Ministry of National Defence announced Thursday that a team from the Romanian Naval Forces had traveled to the beach area at Capu Midia to check some remains of an aerial drone.
“The drone remains had been reported in the beach area on Wednesday, September 9, around 8:00 p.m. Because darkness was falling, it was decided to isolate the area, with the intervention postponed until this morning,” the MoND statement says.
According to the MoND, the fragments did not contain an explosive charge and were neutralized on site, around 9:30 a.m.
