Romanian Naval Forces EOD combat divers intervened on Sunday morning, September 20, to neutralize debris possibly originating from a drone, identified in the Grindul Chituc area, Constanța County. The intervention took place after the Coast Guard notified the Ministry of National Defence about a floating object observed approximately 50 nautical miles east of Chituc.
The specialized team carried out the standard verification and neutralization procedures. The area was secured, and the Ministry of National Defence stated that there was no danger to the population or naval traffic. The debris was treated as a possible fragment of an aerial drone, with no details regarding the object's origin provided so far.
The intervention comes after another incident reported last week. Two F-16 aircraft took off following reports of a drone heading toward northeastern Romania. Subsequently, a RO-Alert message was issued in Botoșani County, and a flying object was found crashed in a cornfield in the locality of Botoșenița Mare, Suceava County. The incident caused a small fire, with no casualties.
