MoND: A drone entered Romanian airspace and crashed near Solca, Suceava County / No casualties or material damage were recorded

A small drone entered Romania’s airspace on Thursday morning and crashed near the town of Solca, Suceava County, after being monitored for approximately four minutes. The incident caused no casualties or material damage.

The aerial target was initially detected by the radar systems of the Ministry of National Defence over Ukrainian territory, near the border, in the northern area of Botoșani County. Two F-16 aircraft, on Air Police combat duty, took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base to monitor its trajectory.

At 06:26, the authorities sent RO-Alert messages to the population in Botoșani and Suceava counties. Crews from the Ministry of Internal Affairs secured the area and identified the wreckage, with no fire at the crash site. Subsequently, an IAR-330 SOCAT helicopter took off from the 95th Bacău Air Base to monitor the situation.

During the previous night, other aerial targets were observed near the town of Chilia Veche, and the population in northern Tulcea County was alerted. The alert was lifted at 05:44.
