Fishermen in Agigea discovered a suspicious object, possibly a drone fragment. The authorities were alerted

A suspicious object, believed to be a possible drone fragment, was discovered Saturday morning in the breakwater area of Agigea, Constanța County. The object was spotted by fishermen, who alerted the authorities.

Initial images taken at the scene show a light-colored rectangular object that could be a component—possibly a wing—of an aerial drone. According to the information available so far, the object does not appear to have an explosive charge attached.

Authorities are to determine the nature of the fragment and the circumstances in which it reached the coastal area. It is not currently known when or where the object may have broken off or crashed.

The discovery came several hours after a Ro-Alert message was issued in Tulcea County following reports of a drone near the Romanian-Ukrainian border. To verify the situation, two F-18 aircraft operated by the Spanish Air and Space Force took off from the Mihail Kogălniceanu 57th Air Base. Ultimately, the drone did not enter national airspace. Investigations into the object found in Agigea are ongoing.
