Fragments possibly originating from a drone, found on arable land on Brăila's Great Island / Checks are being carried out in the indicated area

The Ministry of National Defence announced on Tuesday morning that fragments of an object, possibly a drone, were found on farmland in Brăila Great Island, near the village of Gropeni, approximately 25 kilometers from the city of Brăila. The object is believed to have fallen during the night from Monday to Tuesday, and the impact was followed by a fire that went out without causing casualties or material damage.

The incident was reported through a call to 112. Teams from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Romanian Intelligence Service arrived at the scene, secured the area, and are to examine the fragments. The Ministry of National Defence will also send a specialized team to investigate the object and examine the perimeter.

That same night, the Ministry of Defence's radars detected a drone operating north of Isaccea, near the river border with Ukraine. Two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air and Space Force were scrambled to monitor the situation. The Ministry of National Defence states that no unauthorized entry into Romanian airspace was reported.
