A drone fragment, specifically a wing, was washed ashore by waves on Friday on Modern Beach in Constanța and was retrieved by the Coast Guard. According to initial information, the piece did not contain an explosive payload and posed no danger to the public.
The area where the fragment was found was cordoned off by police officers and gendarmes until Coast Guard crews arrived. The authorities examined the object and ordered that it be taken away for further investigation.
The incident is not an isolated one. Between August 24 and 30, the Ministry of National Defence also handled and publicly reported 11 situations recorded near Romania’s border or on national territory, amid attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian infrastructure.
The fragment discovered on the coast will be analyzed to determine its origin and the circumstances in which it reached the Modern Beach area. According to the available information, its presence did not pose risks to tourists or local residents.
