The national electricity company UNE has declared that the national electric system has been restored after a widespread blackout lasting a day and a half, but many areas in Cuba, including Havana, remain without electricity.

By the end of Tuesday morning, only 42% of the city had electricity, and citizens are facing frustration due to repeated power outages. Carlos Garcia, a local driver, described the situation as the "new normal," emphasizing that the electricity supply is precarious. The island's deep economic crisis, combined with outdated infrastructure and the energy blockade imposed by the U.S., further complicates the situation.

The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs has accused Washington of being responsible for the deficiencies in the electrical grid, which are a direct result of the blockade. The 40-year-old thermoelectric plants frequently have problems, and power outages have worsened since the imposition of an oil blockade in January, affecting fuel supply.
