Bolivian miners have taken to the streets in La Paz to demand the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz, while simultaneously calling for labor reforms, greater access to fuel and explosives. The protests have escalated into violence, with police responding by using tear gas. This protest movement has been fueled by a deep economic crisis, exacerbated by a lack of US dollars and a decrease in energy production.

Although President Paz signed a decree to repeal a controversial land mortgage law, the protests have continued to intensify. Just six months into his term, Paz is facing a difficult situation, and miners have entered the presidential palace for discussions. Authorities reported 67 blockades on highways, leading to shortages of food and medicine in hospitals.
