According to former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Angela Merkel's open migration policy in 2015 has significantly contributed to the strengthening of the far-right AfD party. Kurz dismissed concerns that his policy might align with the far-right discourse, arguing that politicians should be guided by principles, not supporters.
