Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that it is very likely that the budget for 2026 will not be finalized in December, but will be extended until January. This delay is caused by the need to have appropriate legislation to ensure a predictable budget.

Bolojan mentioned that next week, the government will assume responsibility for a reform package in local and central administration. It is important to note that, in the event that the state budget is not adopted by January 1, state institutions will operate with a fraction of 1/12 of the previous year's budget. These statements were made during a meeting at the Association of Municipalities in Romania.
