The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, stated that Romania will apply international sanctions against Lukoil and that the legislative act regarding the company's assets will be finalized this week. He emphasized that there are no reasons for an increase in fuel prices and called for checks from the Competition Council.

Ivan mentioned that they are collaborating with authorities from the USA and the United Kingdom to ensure a correct implementation of the sanctions, while also protecting Romanian companies. Romania and Bulgaria are in competition to avoid the closure of Lukoil refineries before the sanctions are applied, and Bucharest is considering requesting a derogation. These measures also have implications for other EU countries, such as Germany, which has obtained a derogation for the Schwedt refinery.
