Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the intention to propose stricter restrictions on gun ownership, including limiting the number of firearms a licensed owner can possess. This decision comes in the wake of a devastating terrorist attack, in which two attackers, a father and son, opened fire on participants at beach festivities, resulting in the deaths of several people, including a 10-year-old girl, a rabbi, and a Holocaust survivor. Albanese emphasized that the government is prepared to take necessary measures to strengthen gun legislation, stating that gun owner permits should not be permanent, considering that people can become radicalized. The attack, the deadliest in the last three decades in Australia, has raised concerns about the rise of antisemitism and the effectiveness of existing security measures. Authorities have not disclosed the motives of the attackers, and the father was shot dead, while the son was hospitalized.
