A team of computer security researchers has discovered 30 databases containing 16 billion records, probably from hackers and infostealers. These include URLs, usernames and passwords, affecting accounts at major companies such as Google and Apple. Although the databases were quickly blocked, researchers warn that new datasets are emerging frequently, underscoring the scale of the malware's information theft problem. Users are advised to use complex passwords, enable two-step authentication and be wary of suspicious messages to protect their online accounts.
