Chapter 3: FCSB vs CSA Steaua București

Most Romanians who like football believe, according to the National Barometer of Romanian Sport, conducted by Inscop Research at the request of Fanatik.ro, that FCSB is the successor of the Steaua team, which won the European Champions Cup in 1986. Over 70% of respondents to the same survey would like to see an FCSB – CSA Steaua București match in the first league of Romanian football


Methodology:

The national barometer of Romanian sport Fanatik – INSCOP Research was conducted by INSCOP Research at the request of the website Fanatik.ro. Data was collected between October 10-22, 2025. Research method: interview via questionnaire. Data was collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple stratified sample volume of 1500 people. The sample is representative for significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over. The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 2.5%, at a confidence level of 95%.


Successor of the Steaua team

54.3% of those who like football believe that FCSB is the successor of the Steaua team, which won the European Champions Cup in 1986, while 29.9% believe it is CSA Steaua București. 15.7% do not know or do not respond.

They believe that FCSB is the successor of the Steaua team especially: men, young people under 30, people with higher education, those with higher income, state employees. They consider that CSA Steaua București is the successor of the Steaua team especially: people aged between 45 and 59, those with primary education, residents of small urban areas, private sector employees.

Match FCSB – CSA Steaua București

70.8% of those surveyed would like to see an FCSB – CSA Steaua București match in the first league of Romanian football, while 28% oppose. 1.2% do not know or do not respond.

They would like to see an FCSB – CSA Steaua București match in the first league of Romanian football especially: young people under 30, people with primary education, those with low income. They would not like to see this especially: people aged between 30 and 44, those with higher education, residents of Bucharest, those with high income.
