The study conducted by World Weather Attribution highlights the impact of climate change on wildfires in the eastern Mediterranean, which have been fueled by extremely high temperatures and drought. In 2025, the fires were 22% more intense, causing 20 deaths and the evacuation of 80,000 people. Researchers warn that further warming will worsen the situation, making fires more frequent and more devastating. Precipitation has decreased by 14% compared to the pre-industrial period, and conditions favorable to fires are now 13 times more likely.
