Hidroelectrica is raising the price of active energy by approximately 13%, a measure that will affect the final price paid by consumers by around 7%, depending on the distribution area. The adjustment applies only to new customers and contracts reaching their term and is not retroactive.

The company says the increase is below the cumulative inflation rate recorded during the period in which tariffs were kept unchanged. The decision comes amid rising operating and fuel costs, higher wholesale market prices, and unfavorable hydrological conditions.

Hydrological conditions have been deficient since April 2026, with the situation worsening from June onward. In July and August, the Danube’s average flows fell to 39.7% and 36.1%, respectively, of the multi-year averages. The Iron Gates hydropower system accounts for approximately 40% of Hidroelectrica’s production.

In addition, the price of treated water increased by 7.32%, to 39.71 lei/MWh, while baseload energy for the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027 reached approximately 900 lei/MWh. The company says it is maintaining a competitive offer for household customers despite the pressures it faces.>”,
