Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association, states that the price of electricity on the wholesale market in Romania will decrease in the coming years, but without pressure from consumers, the decrease will not be reflected in bills. His analysis suggests that, in optimistic scenarios, prices could reach 1.2 lei/kWh in 2026 and 1.15 lei/kWh in 2027. Although the average prices for the top 20 offers have decreased by 6% due to increased competition, most consumers have not changed their supplier, thus maintaining higher prices. Chisăliță recommends that consumers change their supplier to benefit from lower prices and emphasizes that 61.4% of Romanians consider changing suppliers, but only if they receive better offers. He warns that, without action from consumers, prices will not decrease significantly.
