Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association (AEI), warns that the voluntary reduction of electricity consumption in Romania could only bring 100-200 MW, insufficient to cover an estimated deficit of up to 2,500 MW during peak hours.

The government has declared a state of energy alert, but relies on calls for responsibility from companies, which could suffer significant financial losses, according to the president of AEI.

Dumitru Chisăliță emphasizes that consumption reduction cannot be achieved without adequate compensation, and the industry cannot stop production without incurring high costs. He suggests that measures to reduce consumption should have been planned and contracted in advance, while simultaneously protecting critical sectors.

He further emphasized that, in the current context, Romania is facing difficulties in ensuring the necessary energy, and calls for solidarity are not enough to solve the problem.
