President Nicușor Dan stated that the risk of some large industrial consumers being affected by the electricity crisis has passed. He mentioned that hydrologists forecast that in a few weeks there will be enough water to restart at least one of the reactors at the Cernavodă power plant. Nicușor Dan frequently discussed the energy alert with interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, emphasizing that the problems of the Romanian energy system are not recent, but the result of a deficient strategy in recent years. The president assured that there are no risks for household consumers, and the disconnection of some large industrial consumers is now unlikely. He acknowledged that Romania has not completed the necessary works for the energy sector on time, but promised that within a year the situation will significantly improve.
"It is a matter of weeks, two weeks, three weeks, until hydrologists say that we will have enough water to start at least one of the reactors at Cernavodă. Then, fortunately, we are interconnected (...) we are interconnected with Ukraine, we are interconnected with Bulgaria, which fortunately has a consistent storage capacity and already the Cernavodă power plant, as long as it has been off for ten days, something like that, and we managed to operate all of us," said President Nicușor Dan on Thursday evening in Chișinău.
