Bogdan Chirițoiu, the president of the Competition Council, explained that the price cap has led to a decrease in food prices but has generated increases in other products. He suggested that if the measure is extended, it should not be long-term and should be replaced with voluntary agreements to reduce prices. He also mentioned that ANAF will continue inspections for traders who do not comply with the measure. Chirițoiu contested claims about the impact of the price cap on inflation, emphasizing that the trade deficit is the main factor contributing to high inflation.
