After deciding to end his career with the national team, the Argentine star will be called up for the friendly match against Benin, scheduled for October 6 at the Monumental in Buenos Aires. The announcement was made by Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

According to the AFA, Rodrigo De Paul and Giovani Lo Celso will also join the squad for the October 6 match. The two will miss Argentina’s first match of this international window, but are expected to attend the event dedicated to Messi’s farewell to the national team.
