According to Eurostat data, Romania had the highest annual inflation rate in the European Union in September 2025, reaching 9.88%, an increase from 9.85% in August. Prices of non-food goods rose by 11.09%, while services increased by 10.36%. In comparison, the average inflation rate in the EU was 2.6%, and in the eurozone, it was 2.2%.
Romania remains in first place in the EU regarding inflation, being in this situation for the seventh consecutive month. The lowest inflation rates in the EU were recorded in Cyprus (0%) and France (1.1%). Additionally, core inflation in the eurozone is expected to remain below 2.5% in the coming years, according to forecasts from the European Central Bank.
