According to Eurostat data, Romania is once again at the forefront of the European Union countries with an annual inflation rate of 9.2% in June, in contrast to the EU average of 2.9%. The lowest inflation rates in the EU were recorded in Sweden (1%), the Czech Republic (1.1%), and Denmark (1.8%). Compared to May, the inflation rate in Romania decreased from 9.7% to 9.2%, while in the Eurozone it dropped to 2.8%.
The main contributions to inflation in the Eurozone came from services, energy, and food. In Romania, the National Institute of Statistics reported a decrease in inflation from 10.9% in May to 10.4% in June, with the highest price increases recorded in services (13.67%) and non-food goods (12.29%). The National Bank of Romania revised its inflation forecast for the end of 2026 to 5.5%, anticipating a decrease to 2.9% by the end of 2027.
