Romania is among the European countries with the highest increases in fuel prices, with a rise of 23.1% in June 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, according to Eurostat data.
At the level of the European Union, the average price of fuels increased by 13.7%. The largest increases were recorded in Bulgaria (26%) and Lithuania (23.5%). Although prices have risen, in June 2026 there was an average decrease of 6.4% in diesel prices and 4.2% in gasoline compared to May 2026.
In Romania, diesel and gasoline prices decreased by almost 4% during the same period.
The largest decreases in diesel prices were in the Czech Republic (-11.3%), while increases in gasoline prices were observed only in Cyprus (0.7%) and Italy (0.5%).
